Ajmal Samuel: A Meeting of Minds

I was introduced to Ajmal Samuel in Hong Kong through our mutual friend, Dhanada Mishra. I expected to meet an accomplished businessman or perhaps an athlete—but not the force of nature who wheeled into the room. Ajmal arrived in a black T-shirt with a golden ASF logo, his tan glowing, his demeanor warm and open. Charismatic yet humble, he spoke with ease about resilience, success, and living life without limits—not as theory, but through hard-won experience.

Ajmal’s story is remarkable. He’s a succesful entrepreneur, a relentless advocate for disability rights, and an endurance athlete who turned personal adversity into strength after a life-changing spinal injury. He’s handcycled across continents, championed accessibility, and defied expectations at every turn. His life is a testament to perseverance, grit, and vision.

A week after we met, over lunch, Ajmal shared his next audacious plan: to handcycle from Vilnius to Oslo. It wasn’t just the scale of the challenge that struck me, but the serendipity. I’d long dreamt of exploring the Baltics and Scandinavia, and here was an opportunity not just to witness an incredible journey but to document it.

That conversation sparked more than a project. Since that first adventure, we’ve ventured together to Taiwan and South Africa on paragliding expeditions, driven across South Africa and Namibia in a 4x4, and produced two films. A book is now in production, with many more adventures on the horizon.

This is why Ajmal has a place on my website. Our collaboration is about more than documenting journeys—it’s about capturing the spirit of resilience, exploration, and pushing limits. And it feels like just the beginning.
